Do you ever Stop... ?
You know, as time goes on, we kinda become more and more attached to this sentiment of always being online, may it be for things like connecting with friends and family, entertainment, work, pass times, it's like that one thing that's related to all of them and more.
I personally got truly started on this internet thing back in 2016, even if we had a very shitty speed of 1MB it opened the floodgates of me discovering everything this world had to offer, at the palm of my hand. Going from books and television to having all of that and more with just a web browser in a portable device was incredible for me at the time.
Yet, as the years went on and on, something was changing on this. Places that were made to meet up and interact with people were turning into places where you troll people and get something out of that rage, entertainment where as before was made out of passion now turned into targeted entertainment, with algorithms made just to target you, media went from long form and delicately made to being just under a minute and mass produced, with things like AI only worsening this. Doomscrolling and bots are a massive problem that instead of being fixed, is encouraged.
Even things like messaging apps are being worsened, and all of this over-stimulation is making my mind go crazy and just ask for it all to STOP.
... Actually, yeah let's stop for a second, let's ignore all of the issues mentioned before for a moment.
What did you make lately? What did you watch? What did you read? I'm not talking about things like AI memes or social media posts, but of things like movies and books, may it be made by someone big or someone like you and me.
The internet nowadays tries to make every single moment we live something smaller on the grand scheme of things, why focus on this nice moment when you could be exploring 20 more right now? But that's not really the way we should be aspiring to.
Seriously, just pause for a second, did you talk to a friend today? What did you both do lately? Don't focus on going to social media and doomscrolling for 2 hours, or watch 80 tiktoks while letting time rot away, focus on the moment, focus on your own activities, not what @InternetTroll68 is posting that may make you rage.
We all need to live the moment, rather than be the moment that an algorithm picks for, even if it's the most low effort thing you can do right now. Don't think of doing something for an entire day only to spend it watching memes all day long, do that something right now.
I post art and videos on social media practically most days, but even if I, someone that would benefit from you being glued to the screen so you can boost my works and reach more people for the cycle to repeat, even if I am begging you to stop this constant social media checking, I feel like that should tell you a lot about the state of how the internet is handled nowadays.
Live, and enjoy life, don't go on hours long streaks of being chronically online to your phone or PC, even if that sounds boomer as fuck.
If you've read up until the bottom, I'd like to know what you've been reading, watching, playing, you name it. I'll start:
I've recently finished reading Kiki's Delivery Service, it's the first book I've read in years and it was a very enjoyable read. I've been also watching some Dropout shows (notably Game Changer) and playing Poker Night at The Inventory (2010), which sounds dumb to play a game where you only play it for the TF2 items, but it brings me a level of comfort that makes it very enjoyable for me. I also go on walks whenever I'm able to, its nice to take a breath of fresh air away from the inside.
I'll see you very soon with another blog post.
